BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
The Tavern is your group's home base, with members and a shared text chat. Rooms live inside it and are where voice, camera and screen sharing happen. Opening the Tavern doesn't put you in a call: you choose when to join a Room.
Whoever runs the Tavern can create an invite link and share it with the group. Your friend signs in or creates an account, then continues with the same invite. The link is valid for seven days and may need approval, depending on the Tavern's settings.
Yes. In a Room you can talk, turn on your camera and share your screen. The text chat belongs to the whole Tavern, including people in another Room. You choose when to turn on your devices.
Yes. Mead is for people 18 and older: when you sign up, you enter your date of birth, and we only keep the confirmation. An account lets you join Taverns, chat and keep your profile. After signing up, you pick your unique @ so your friends can find you.
MeaDraw, a drawing and guessing game; The Impostor, about finding who doesn't know where they are; Rune Word, a word game for two teams; Tankard Slam, a race to fill the categories with one letter; Twisted Tale, telephone with drawings; and the Back Table, with truco and play-money poker. They all run inside the call, in English, Portuguese and Spanish, with nothing to install. The Tavern also has a Board, sounds and stickers.
No. Mead works in the browser, on computers and phones. If you stream games from a computer, there's a Windows app that sends the game's audio along with your screen and has shortcuts for your mic and sound.
Accounts, Taverns, calls and games are free. An optional plan, with extras for customization and streaming quality, is on the way. It doesn't change XP, levels or Room limits.
Mead works in the browser. Each account can lead up to three Taverns, and each Tavern can have up to five Rooms. Each call holds up to ten people and three screen shares at once, with one active call per account. Streaming goes up to 720p at 30 fps; on a phone, you can join to watch. Camera and audio depend on what your browser and device support and allow.
