PLAY IT IN THE CALL
Tankard Slam: a categories word game online with friends
Mead's take on Stop, also known as Name, Place, Animal, Thing: a letter comes out, everyone writes a word starting with it for each category, and whoever fills them all slams the tankard. Then the table judges the answers out loud.
For ages 18 and up.

How to play
- In a Mead Room, open Activities and choose Tankard Slam.
- A letter comes out, never the same one twice in a match. Write a word starting with it for each category on the scroll before time runs out. Whoever fills them all can slam the tankard: everyone else gets 3 seconds.
- In the Judgment, the answers show one category at a time. Anyone can contest an answer, and the table votes Valid or Not valid. Everyone toasts the answer they liked best.
Details
- Points
- 10 for a unique answer, 5 if someone wrote the same, 15 if you're the only one who answered the category, and 3 for each toast you get.
- Slamming the tankard
- It's a bet: +10 if every answer of yours stands, −10 if one falls. Whoever runs the table can turn the bet off.
- Categories
- 4 to 8 per match, from the classic scroll (first name, animal, place…), the Tavern's scroll (legendary creature, excuse to skip game night…) or both, plus any the table writes.
- Languages
- The scroll and its letters come in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
Questions
Is it the same game as Stop or Name, Place, Animal, Thing?
Yes: a random letter, categories and a race to fill them all. In Tankard Slam, whoever finishes slams the tankard instead of shouting "Stop!", and the table contests and votes on the answers right away.
Can we use our own categories?
Yes. Whoever runs the table can write up to 8 categories and take the ones the group doesn't want out of the draw.
Do I need to download anything?
No. The game runs inside a Mead Room, in your browser. Everyone in the call sees the same match.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in your phone's browser. The call stays open, so you can talk while you play.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. The games come with every Room.
